LX Virtual is a non-commercial flight-simulation community. We use personal data only where it is necessary to operate, secure and improve this website and its pilot features. We do not sell personal data and this website does not currently use advertising or marketing analytics.
1. Scope and responsible organisation
This policy applies to the LX Virtual website and the services provided directly through it. LX Virtual is responsible for the website-side processing described here. vAMSYS remains independently responsible for data processed on its own platform.
Privacy enquiries concerning this website can be sent to management@lx-virtual.com. Requests concerning a vAMSYS account should be sent directly to vAMSYS.
2. Information processed when you visit
Server logs
The hosting infrastructure may automatically record technical data required to deliver and protect the website. This can include the IP address, requested page, date and time, referrer, browser, operating system, response status and security-related events. Logs are used for reliable operation, troubleshooting and protection against misuse. They are not combined into advertising profiles.
Operational caches
The website keeps short-lived server-side caches for public content, events, fleet information and live-map data. These caches contain operational API responses and are not intended to identify visitors.
3. Pilot login and vAMSYS
Pilot login is optional and uses the vAMSYS OAuth service. When you choose “Continue with vAMSYS”, you are redirected to vAMSYS and back. Following successful authorisation, LX Virtual receives the pilot information required to establish the website session, such as the vAMSYS pilot identifier, display name and relevant membership or role information.
This information is used only to authenticate you and provide the requested pilot or dashboard functions. LX Virtual does not receive or store your vAMSYS password. Activity performed directly on vAMSYS is governed by the vAMSYS Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and browser storage
A technically necessary session cookie is used after pilot login. It associates your browser with the server-side login session, is protected with appropriate cookie settings and is not used for advertising. The configured maximum session lifetime is 30 days; sessions can end earlier when you sign out or when the server invalidates them.
The website may also use local browser storage for interface state and locally cached website content. This information remains in your browser until it is replaced or cleared. You can remove cookies and local storage through your browser settings, although doing so will sign you out and may reset saved preferences.
5. Live data, maps and external services
Public events, flight activity and pilot functions can use server-to-server data from vAMSYS. The live map may load map resources from Mapbox and geographic data derived from OpenStreetMap. When those resources are requested by your browser, the respective provider may receive technical request data such as your IP address, user agent and request time.
Links to social networks and other third-party websites do not transmit account data merely because they appear on this website. Once you follow an external link, the destination provider’s own terms and privacy practices apply.
6. Purposes and legal framework
Data is processed to provide requested website functions, authenticate pilots, maintain security, diagnose errors and operate the non-commercial community. Processing is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where applicable, the GDPR. Depending on the context, processing is necessary to provide a requested service, comply with legal obligations or pursue the legitimate interests of secure and reliable website operation.
7. Recipients and international processing
Data is disclosed only where necessary to hosting and infrastructure providers, vAMSYS or the map providers described above, or where disclosure is required by law. Some providers may process technical data outside Switzerland or the European Economic Area under their own safeguards and privacy terms. LX Virtual does not sell or rent personal data.
8. Retention and security
Personal data is retained only for as long as it is required for the stated purpose, website security or applicable legal obligations. Login sessions expire according to the configured session lifetime. Server-log retention follows the hosting and security configuration. Operational cache files are refreshed or replaced regularly.
The website uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Access to administrative functions and stored session data is restricted. No internet transmission or storage method can nevertheless provide absolute security.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request information about personal data concerning you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability or objection to certain processing. Where processing relies on consent, consent may be withdrawn for the future.
You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. Requests relating to data held by vAMSYS must be addressed to vAMSYS through the contact information in its privacy policy.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when the website, connected services or legal requirements change. The version published on this page is the current version.
